Two men posing as DTE workers fanagled their way into a Rochester Hills home Friday morning and killed the husband, 72, and tied up the wife. The husband owns a jewelry store in Hamtramck.

A snippet of home security footage released by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office (see below) shows a big man with short-cropped hair in a reflective vest and medical mask standing at the front door, saying: "We're DTE. We're checking for gas leaks."

Oakland County Sheriff Bouchard tells WXYZ the men had a DTE placard on the side of their vehicle.

The husband, Hussein Murray, let them in and went to the basement with the men where he was murdered. The fake DTE workers then went upstairs and tied up the wife.

He said the men stuck around for about 20 minutes searching the home.

Bouchard said they're investigating whether owning the store made the victim a target.

He said the cause of death wasn't clear because "there was so much blood."
