1 Person Killed on Detroit's Lodge Freeway in Crash With Wrong-Way Driver

A 34-year-old motorist from Detroit died early Friday morning on the soundbound Lodge Freeway near Grand River in Detroit when a Jeep SUV going the wrong way struck him head-on, Michigan State Police said.

The driver of the Jeep, a 27-year-old woman, was hospitalized in critical condition.

Troopers attempted to get into the SUV of the 34-year-old man but were unsuccessful, the police said.

Troopers were able to get into the Jeep that was at fault and removed the injured driver.

Police said the investigation is continuing.
