Detroit police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who reportedly fell down an elevator shaft early Saturday at the vacant Southwest Detroit Hospital, the future home of the Detroit City FC professional soccer team, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the former hospital in the 2400 block of 20th Street. Police have not identified the man who fell.

A group of people had entered the hospital when the man fell down an elevator shaft to his death, the Freep reports.

Southwest Detroit Hospital closed in bankruptcy in 1991. Detroit City FC plans to raze the building and have a 15,000-seat stadium ready by 2027.
