Former Michigan Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence and 14 members of the Black Congressional Caucus are endorsing Democratic U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens for U.S. Senate, the candidate announced Thursday.
“Her entire career, Haley Stevens has been a fighter for Michigan, bringing experience, compassion, and a deep commitment to the people she serves," said Lawrence, who left Congress in 2023, in a statement.
"From helping save 200,000 Michigan jobs as Chief of Staff during President Obama’s auto rescue to fighting for Black-owned businesses in Congress and standing up to Donald Trump’s chaos, I’ve seen Haley fight and I’ve seen her win.”
Stevens said in response to the endorsements:
“My colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus are champions who inspire me each and every day. I am truly honored to have members of the Congressional Black Caucus by my side in this fight to beat Mike Rogers and deliver for Michigan in the United States Senate.”
