Gov. Whitmer in Milan
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's office is refusing to say who paid for her ticket to the Olympic gold medal game for women's hockey on Feb. 19, the Detroit News reports.
The publication reports that Stacey LaRouche, Whitmer's press secretary, declined to say who paid for the ticket, saying only that it "was not paid for at taxpayer expense."
The News writes:
The question is potentially significant because Michigan has new standards limiting how officeholders, like Whitmer, can accept event tickets from registered lobbyists and because the charity that helped fund Whitmer's recent trade mission to Europe is facing a complaint that it's acted as a lobbyist.
